Lollapalooza has become just as much about the threads you’re wearing as it is about the music. It’s about seeing the bands you came to see and you being seen (in style). Today and tomorrow, I’ll be posting my picks for what to wear to all 3 days of Lolla.
First things first (I’m the realest), Lolla can get muddy. If there is ANY chance of rain in the forecast, it’ll probably rain (because it’s Chicago, and that’s what it does). If you have concerns about getting a little dirt on your shoes, these recommendations probably won’t apply, as you’ll want to just wear your oldest pair of vans or chucks.
However, if you’re looking to walk the walk, slip into these SeaVeesxToddSnyder Army Hi kicks. A nice alternative to Chucks or Vans, the color of these shoes will help keep them from looking like they’ve been through a mudbath once the festival is over. They’re lightweight and breathable, and will get you from one end of the park to the next in style. Check out the inspiration behind this shoe here.
The Chambray Summer Shorts from the gents at Taylor Stitch will keep you cool, calm and collected. They’re slightly tapered in the lower leg but allow for plenty of breathing room, which is key. Make sure to line your pockets with plastic zip locks to store any valuables in the event of inclement weather (i.e., Lollapalooza 2012). Get the look here at Taylor Stitch.
Gitman Brother’s- Birds of Paradise SS- on sale for $125 at End
Gitman Vintage- Diamond Head Shirt - On sale for $90 at East Dane
Gap- Paisley Jacquard Shirt - $49.95 at Gap
The short sleeved button up is the perfect way to go from casual Friday in the office to late night dance party at Perry’s stage. Above, I’ve picked out a few Gitman Vintage and Gap short sleeved button ups to rock on Day 1.
Gitman shirts have always been known for fitting perfectly, and recently they’ve been putting out some pretty radical designs that are perfect for debuting at Lolla. The front breast pocket is key for storing your shades once the sun goes down.
For those whose wallets are empty from dishing out the money for a 3-day pass, the Gap has some funky shirts at a price we can all get down with. Gap is also sponsoring Gap x Lolla this year, so make sure to pop into the Gap off Michigan Ave. to checkout some of the official gear.
*Gap- Lived-in wash tropical print shirt (pictured last) seriously sold out as i was writing this post. But check your local Gap to see if they have any in stock, because it’s pretty much amazing.
Shows I’m looking forward to seeing on Friday: Hozier | Blood Orange | CHVRCHES | Lorde/ The Kooks | Zedd/Phantogram
Check back tomorrow for what to wear Day 2.
